My Why

I feel lucky to be able to draw on my own experiences as a caregiver to support others with empathy and compassion as they navigate their own caregiving journeys—or those of their loved ones. I only wish I’d had resources like Tea & Toast back then—having guidance could have made finding the right assisted living or long-term care less stressful, helped me plan ahead, and ensured that I could do all I could to support my loved ones with grace, dignity and love.

As the newest member of the Tea & Toast Team, Kim brings years of experience in social services and  community engagement, meeting people where they are as they navigate life’s many ups and downs. Her own experiences as a caregiver for parents and grandparents give her a deep understanding of the challenges families face, and working at Tea & Toast allows her to guide clients to the resources that best support their unique journeys.

A passionate advocate for practical and meaningful supports, Kim also emphasizes the importance of self-care for caregivers. She encourages kindness and patience toward yourself, and reminds families that guilt is a normal but manageable part of caregiving. Her approach is simple: plan ahead when you can, have a plan for surprises—because there will be surprises—and make decisions from a place of calm rather than crisis.

Kim has lived in many “exotic” locations—Kingston, Toronto, and Timmins—but Ottawa has been home for over 18 years. Her household includes two lively Cairn Terriers, a curious cat, and a few fish, ensuring that life at home is always full of energy and laughter.

Kim is naturally curious, empathetic, and has a knack for making people feel seen and heard. She loves finding solutions, sharing a laugh, and celebrating the small wins along life’s journey. Whether she’s navigating a tricky caregiving challenge or introducing a client to a new resource, Kim brings warmth, humor, and a steady calm to every conversation.
